RTE - Sexual Violence Centre calls for new legislation to tackle spiking
"There is an undertaking to act on it. But we want it sooner rather than later. It is about coming together and making this push happen now."
Last week Dola Twomey spoke to RTE about the incidences of spiking across Ireland in recent years. The Sexual Assault Treatment Unit's (SATU) 2025 report shows that of "1,021 people who attended the six SATUs in 2025, 209 people, or 19%, expressed specific concern that the incident may have involved spiking" with a further 181 people "unsure whether a drug-facilitated sexual assault had occurred".
