About Spiking in Ireland

Spiking is an under-recognised and under-reported issue in Ireland.

This platform has been created to provide clear information, support those affected, and advocate for meaningful change. We bring together existing research, policy developments, and lived experiences to highlight the reality of spiking and the gaps that persist.

Advocate for systemic change and accountability

At the centre of this work is a simple principle:
People should be believed, supported, and protected.

Why This Platform Exists

Despite growing awareness, there is currently:

  • No standalone legislation addressing spiking in Ireland

  • No dedicated category for recording incidents by An Garda Síochána

  • Limited access to timely toxicology testing

  • Little national research on prevalence or impact

Many individuals report not being believed or feeling further traumatised when seeking help. This platform brings together available information to create a clearer picture — and to support calls for change.
